Cheryl Selders
08 April 1951 - 11 Mar 2019

Cheryl Christine Donnelly, 67, of Logansport, passed away Monday March 11, 2019 in Lutheran Hospital.

Born April 8, 1951 in Logansport, IN to the late Glen W. and Lois (Speicher) Selders. 

On November 10, 1990 in Greenfield, Wisconsin Cheryl married Richard Terrence Donnelly who survives.

Cheryl formerly worked as an LPN at Millers Merry Manor. She was also volunteer at the Salvation Army food pantry.

Other survivors include one aunt, Ruth Rotuck, of Monticello; one sister-in-law, Patricia Donnelly, Logansport; one niece, one nephew, two great nieces and several cousins. 

visitation will be held from 11:00 am until noon on Thursday March 14, 2019 in the Gundrum Funeral Home. 

There will be no services and a private burial will be held in Mount
Hope cemetery.

Bill Sellers
19 Aug 1951 - 18 June 2007

Gone too soon....but forever in our hearts  

William J. "Bill" Sellers, 55, Logansport, died at 10:45 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007, in St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis. For the past five months, he had valiantly fought a battle against a serious disease called sarcoidosis. 

Born August 19, 1951, in Logansport, he was the son of William E. and Alma M. Zimmerman Sellers. 

On June 27, 1987, in Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Logansport, he was married to Marla Kingery, who survives. 

June 11, 1993 was a special day in Bill's life. It was the day he officially  adopted Angie. That special day was celebrated every year as their daddy-daughter anniversary. 

A 1969 graduate of Logansport High School, Bill earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1973, majoring Astrophysics at Indiana University. 

For 29 1/2 years, he worked at Trelleborg in Logansport. For the past three years, he had worked at EIS Fiber Coating as quality manager. He was a member of the American Society for Quality Control. 

Bill was a member of the Webb Chapel United Methodist Church. 


He was also a member of the Cass County Humane Society and enjoyed dogs so much. Bill's love for dogs led him to adopt special family pets from the animal shelter - he had a 
real soft spot in his heart for his canine companions. An avid reader and comic book collector, Bill enjoyed science, science fiction and history books. 

Bill was a devoted husband, a loving father and a friend to all who knew him. During his battle with sarcoidosis, he agreed to work with medical students, helping them learn more about this disease so that someday, the knowledge would help others. 

Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Angela Sellers, Chicago, Illinois; four brothers, Larry L. Sellers and his wife Janet, Thorntown, Indiana, Chadwick A. Sellers and his wife Rita, of Logansport, Stephen E. Sellers and his wife Sherry, Elkhart, and David E. Sellers, of Logansport; his sister-in-law Pat Swanson and her husband Jim, of Walton; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Bergstrom officiating. 

Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. 

Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel.


Ron Shaffer
15 Sept 1949 - 13 Dec 1982

Ronald Clayton Shaffer, 33, Lansing Michigan, died Monday at his residence.

He was born in Logansport on Sept 15, 1949, to Donald C and Maude M Bowyer Shaffer.

An agent for John Hancock Insurance company, he was a member of the VFW, a veteran of Vietnam with the Green Berets, he was serving in the Naval Reserve. He was a member of Saint James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are the father and step-mother, Mr and Mrs Donald Shaffer, 317 E Main St; and a step-brother, Michael Laymon, of Roy , Washington.

Services will be held Thursday at 11 am in the Fisher Funeral Home with the revs Donald Ruhl and Paul Grant officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery Legion Circle.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 2 to 9 pm.

Brenda Simons
31 March 1951 - 18 Dec 2017

Brenda McPherson Rawlings, 66, of Logansport, passed away at 8:40 p.m. Monday, December 18, 2017 in Chase Center.

Born March 21, 1951, in Logansport, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ann (Goble) Simons. 

On May 26, 1973, in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, she was married to Thomas E. McPherson who preceded her in death Nov. 15, 1996. Her marriage to Dale J. Rawlings was on October 21, 2008 in Kokomo. He preceded her in death April 22, 2014. 

Brenda worked as a secretary. She enjoyed taking care of her family. Brenda was a happy, smiling person who took joy in the simple pleasures of life, like playing Bingo and sipping her favorite beverage, Coca Cola. 

She is survived by three daughters, Angie (Luke) Brown, Allison Nichols, and Alyssa McPherson, all of Logansport; one brother, Bob Simons, Memphis, TN; two brothers-in-law, Carl (Linda) McPherson, Logansport, and Charlie (Patty) McPherson, Marco Island, Florida; one sister-in-law, Pat Benedict, Logansport; and five grandchildren: Lexi, Ashlyn, Joe, Gavin, Michael and Addyson. 

A funeral service celebrating Brenda's life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pat Benedict officiating. 

Friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. prior to the celebration of life. 

Private entombment will be in the Ever-Rest Memorial Park Mausoleum.


John Smith
09 Feb 1951 - 10 Feb 2008

A celebration of life for John F. Smith, 57, Walton, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 4 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, in his residence.

Born Feb. 9, 1951, in Logansport, he was the son of Richard and Mary Jane Pitman Smith. He was married June 24, 1996, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., to Nancy M. Webster, who survives.

John was employed as a clerk for Wedges Liquor Store and was a 
former delivery truck driver for Palumbo Distributing Company.

He was a member of the Cass County Pool League. John enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and especially his grandsons.

Also surviving are sons, Chad Smith and companion, Tavia Williams, Logansport, and Ryan Smith and wife, Angie, Bloomington; brother, Rich Smith, Denver, Colo.; and two grandsons, Jacob Smith and Kye Smith.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Smith.

The Rev. Scott Ellison will officiate.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Diana Lynne Strong

Diane L. Pyle (70) went home to be with her heavenly father on Thursday December 16 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Diane was born to Don and Vera (Bauman-Strong) King on October 18, 1951 and was one of five children. She married John Rodney Pyle on September 24, 1988. They had just celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary.

Diane was born and raised in Logansport, IN and graduated from Logansport High School Class of 1969. Diane also attended Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. She worked as a pharmacy technician and dental assistant for many years before receiving her license as a medical coder. She retired from Murfreesboro Medical Clinic in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and moved back up to Indiana to be close to her children. 

Diane loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending every moment she could with them. Her favorite vacations were spent in the Smoky Mountains with her family and a road trip with her brother Mark. She had a gift of beautifully decorating homes. She enjoyed shopping antiques and twice treasured stores and completing puzzles. She loved to go to music concerts and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Diane is survived by her husband Rodney, two children John and Kimberlee (Myers) Nifong of Plymouth, Brad and Lori Myers of Angola, four grandchildren Johnathan, Jennah, Carly and Nathan. She is also survived by one great grandson, Holten Nifong, and one great grandchild on the way. And one brother Mark Allen Strong, sister in law Tammy Lucero, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs; Rylie Ann and Harley.

Diane was welcomed to Heaven by her parents and three brothers, Gary, Mike and Jeff Strong.  Memorials or donations can be made to a Humane Society of your choice. There will be a Celebration of Life for Diane at the Black Dog Coffee at 116 S 6th St, Logansport, IN on January 16, 2022. The celebration will be held from 1-4 pm. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Diane’s life and share their favorite memories.

Robert Eugene "Bob" Thompson
October 26, 1951 ~ April 19, 2022


A decorated Vietnam War Veteran, CMSgt. Robert Eugene Thompson, USAF (Ret.) earned his Heavenly medal while surrounded by his family in his hone on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.

The son of the late Robert Guthrie and Delores Joann Rance Thompson, Robert was born on October 26, 1951. Raised in Logansport, Indiana, he attended Logansport High School where he was part of the band and wrestling team. During that time at the young age of 15, Robert met the love of his life, Patricia who was 14 years old. In 1971, after Patricia graduated high school, they married at Clymers United Methodist Church in Clymers, Indiana.

Shortly after his high school graduation, Robert proudly joined the United States Air Force where he served as a crew chief and in many various aircraft maintenance roles, retiring as Superintendent at Head Quarters Air Force Reserve Command Robins AFB, GA. Robert served with pride and honor for a total of 30 years in the armed forces, where he achieved rank as the youngest Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force at that time. Following his career in the military, Robert continued serving his country as a Senior Analyst and Logistics Contractor for 20 additional years. He was well known for solving many complex problems, some of which supported high-level rescue missions throughout the world. Bob received many special recognition letters from several Presidents. His dedicated work ethic and high analytical skills led him to receive an open invitation from the Chief of Staff of the Air Force for a position at the Pentagon at any time, if he desired.

A musician since Junior High School, Robert spent his spare time playing guitars and drums. He was a part of many bands throughout his lifetime and enjoyed collecting musical instruments, as well as books and antiques. He loved history and art, and was a profound writer. Robert also enjoyed being outdoors in nature and spending quality time with family. Strong in his faith, Robert was an Ordained Minister of the Christian National Church.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Gill.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 51 years, Patricia Ann Dillman Thompson of Bonaire; Troy Ryan Thompson (Nikki) of Miramar, Florida; Amy Ra’Chelle Howe (Chris) and Andrew Robert Thompson (Christina), all of Bonaire; grandchildren, Dylan and Ian Thompson and Landon and Braydon Howe; brother, Dan Thompson of Fort Myers, Florida; as well as several dearly loved nieces and nephews, including Jamie Dillman who he admired and loved dearly as one of his own.



Tom Thrall
01 Dec 1950 - 06 Dec 2005

LINDEN, Wash. - Thomas K Thrall, 55. Bellingham, formerly Logansport, died Thursday, Dec 6, 2005, in his residence.

Born Dec 1, 1950. in Logansport, he was the son of Maurice and Nina J Killian Thrall.

Tom attended St Vincent's School and Logansport High School, where he was very active in Boy Scouts, public speaking and community service. He graduated from Purdue University, earning a bachelor's degree in history. He was a member of Theta chi Fraternity.

Following college, Tom worked as a boy' home counselor and as an emergency room technician in the Lafayette area.

In 1980, Tom embarked on a trip west on his motorcycle and ended up in Washington on May 18, when he became trapped by the fallout from the Mount St Helens eruption. He apparently liked what he saw in the area because he remained in Washington ever since. For a while he worked in Aberdeen as an EMT and surgical technician before heading up the coast to Bellingham, where he had resided since 1981.

His dry wit, good humor, conversational repartee and loyalty will be sorely missed.

Surviving are one brother, Col (R) Terry Thrall and his wife Lucie, Mesa, Arizona; one sister, Mary Ellen Thrall, Logansport; one nephew; and many friends and acquaintances in the Bellingham area.

His parents and infant sister preceded him in death.

A gathering of friends will be held at a later date when his ashes will be spread upon the ocean at his property on Bellingham Bay. Memorial contributions may be made to a local humane society.

Ulery, John Robert

John Robert Ulery, 70, of Lake Jackson, TX passed away on November 26, 2020.  He was born on October 18, 1950 in North Manchester, IN to Robert Leon and Doris L. [Grossnickle] Ulery. 



John graduatedf from Logansport High School and Tri State College. He worked as a civil engineer, building power plants all over the world.


He is survived by:

Mike Upton

Michael “Moses” Upton, 66, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Indianapolis.

Michael was born on September 6, 1951 in Logansport, Indiana to the late Samuel and Marjorie Upton.

Michael graduated from Logansport High School in 1970 and then attended Vincennes University. Michael then enlisted in the United States Air Force and went on to serve in the Special Forces. 

Following his service to his country, Michael found employment at Walmart in Kokomo and was the Sporting Goods Manager there for the past 17 years.

Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman. Other hobbies that he enjoyed included reading, playing PC games, and collecting things (mainly coins, movies, and books). He was also very inquisitive. 
There were several topics that sparked Michael’s interest and he would go to great lengths to research each one of them.

Michael is survived by his sons, Larry J. Upton, Joshua M. Upton, and Chris Upton (fiancé, Meagan Trotti); daughter-in-law, Katurah J. Upton; mother-in-law, Rose M. Allen; granddaughters, Autumn Nikoal Bates and Angelina Allison Upton; friends, Vicki Goss and Bruce Rosa; and his canine friend, Coco.

Services for Michael are pending at this time. 

Memorial contributions in Michael’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
