Fred Vernon
25 Oct 1951 - 06 April 2018

LIMA — Frederick "Fred" Richard Vernon, 66, passed away on April 6, 2018, at his home in Lima, surrounded by his loving family. 

Fred was born on October 25, 1951, in Logansport, IN to the late William and Frances M. (Watts) Vernon. Fred married Roberta A. "Bert" (Elizondo) Vernon who survives him; they would have celebrated 25 years of marriage this May. 

In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by his daughter, Georgiana (Vernon) Quigley and son, Frederick "Thad" Thaddeus Vernon; grandson, Joseph Quigley; great-grandson, Elliot Quigley; brother, Thomas "Tom" L. (Patty) Vernon; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Vernon) Schwanke; father and mother-in-law, Brigido and Maria Z. Elizondo; brother-in-law, John (Marianne) Elizondo; sister-in-law Brigit Elizondo; aunts, Leorna (Watts) Stuart, Beverly (Vernon) Spitznogle and Judith (Vernon) Zook; 19 nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. 

Fred was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Frederick L. (Helen) Watts and William L. (Carrie) Vernon; brother, William L. Vernon, Jr., and cousin, Michael Galloway. 

Fred attended Logansport High School through the 10th grade and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1969 and the Ohio State University in 1973. He was a graduate of ABA National Commercial Lending School; ABA National Commercial Graduate School and Ashland College Graduate School Program. 

Fred retired as a senior vice president of the Huntington Bank after 43 years. 

Fred was a member of St. John Catholic Church, a retired trustee of the University of Northwestern Ohio, a member of the Finance Committee and Foundation Board Member of St. Charles Parish, past member and past chairman of the Allen County Port Authority, a past member of the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties, past board member of Goodwill Industries of Lima, Rehab Project of Lima, Inc., Lima Technical College, American Institute of Banking, Better Business Bureau and the Apollo Joint Vocational Finance Division. 

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. John Catholic Church, 777 S. Main St., Lima, OH with Reverend David M. Ross to officiate and Reverend Mike Houston and Deacon James Bronder to assist.

Entombment will immediately follow in Gethsemani Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of the Mass in the Gathering Space at the back of the church.

Bill Wharton
01 Aug 1951 . . . 10 Aug 2008

William T Wharton, 57, Logansport, died at 10:30 pm, Thursday, Aug 12, 2008, in his residence.

He was born Aug 1, 1951, Logansport, the son of Fred and Gladys Jane Kingery Wharton.

He was a former employee of Craig's Sunoco. Bill enjoyed playing in rock bands and spending time with his friends.

Survivors include two sisters, Jean Abbe Hedelius, Indianapolis, and Donna Wharton, Anderson, and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Richard and Kenneth Wharton, preceded him in death.

There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

        

Mike Woodruff
18 Oct 1951 - 19 Jan 2014

Michael Woodruff, 62, Logansport, passed away Sunday, Jan 19, 2014, in St Vincent's Heart Center, Indianapolis.

Born Oct 18, 1951, he was the son of Donna Herron Woodruff and the late Norman L Woodruff. His mother survives in Logansport.

Also surviving are three daughters, Danna Silva, Theresa Mikel and Sarah Woodruff, all of Warsaw; two sons, Norman Woodruff of Warsaw and David Woodruff of Fort Wayne; five brothers, Jim, Jonathan D, Thomas and Matthew Woodruff, all of Edwardsville, Michigan; three sisters, Leda Woodruff and Karen Woodruff, both of Logansport, and Susan Sharp of Warsaw; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Abijah Woodruff.

A funeral service will be held at 6 pm Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services.

Friends may call from 4 pm until the time of the service.

Ed Wooten
08 Sept 1951 - 29 April 1973

Funeral services for Edgar E Wooten, 21, 800 20th Street, will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at the Marocco Funeral Chapel.

The Rev Raymond Skelton will officiate and burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home any time.

Wooten died of Massive head injuries when the motorcycle on which he was riding was involved in an accident on County Road 225 S three miles east and 2 miles south of Logansport at 5:16 pm Saturday.

Wooten was born Sept 8, 1951, in Logansport, the son of Lester and Kathryn Reutebuch Wooten. They resided at 1439 Erie Avenue.

His marriage was to Kathleen J Peck on Aug 21, 1970. She survives.

Wooten was employed by General Tire and Rubber Company and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He had served with the National Guard for three years.

Surviving with the widow and his parents are a daughter, Juli, at home; four brothers, Steve, Bill, David, and Tom, all of Logansport. A brother Larry Joseph, preceded  him in death in 1964.

Tom Young
10 Nov 1950 - 30 July 2007

Services for Thomas R. Young, 56, Bloomington, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

He died at 2:03 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007, in his residence.

Born Nov. 10, 1950, in New Castle, Pa., he was the son of David C. and Barbara Jenkins Young. He was married Aug. 14, 1996, in Logansport, to Lori Kay Dudas, who survives.

A 1969 graduate of Logansport High School, Tom was employed by College Motor Inn of Bloomington.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Vietnam War.

He enjoyed football, basketball and coached Little League Baseball. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Also surviving are three sons, Trampas Young and his wife, Tracey, Logansport, Jamie Young and his wife, Jaynene, Waltham, Mass., and Jason Young and his wife, Laura, Fishers; his mother, Barbara Young, Logansport; three stepsons, Kale Culp, Bloomington, Kyle Culp and his wife, Jessica, Indian Head, Md., and Andy Culp, Spencer; two grandsons, Braxton Young and Baylee Young; and one step grandson, Dalton Hutchinson.

Jeff Strite will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Pam Zeider
28 May 1950 - 17 Feb 2020 

Pamela A. McCartney, 69, of Logansport passed away on Monday, February 17, 2020 at her residence.
Born on May 28, 1950 in Logansport, she was the daughter of the Francis and Marcella (Frey) Zeider.
She was a graduate of Logansport High School.
Pam was formerly employed at the Logansport State Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters, Jennie Fry (Jessey) of Peru and Tamara Birnell (Robert) of Logansport, brother, Terry Zeider (Shirley) of Kokomo and sister, Janice Day (Mike) of Lake Cicott.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren. Angelina Gunter, Micheal Fonseca, Braylynn Padgett, Payten Birnell, Liberty Birnell, and Ryker Birnell all of Logansport and 1 great granddaughter Lillian Frankenberger of Logansport.
A Memorial visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Marocco Chapel, 119 E. Market St., Logansport.
